El "contacto" es un concepto central de la terapia gestalt. Está en el corazón de la teoría y de la práctica. Nuestra comprensión del contacto ha cambiado desde que Fritz Perls la introdujo por primera vez hace más de 60 años. Debido a que otros conceptos importantes de la terapia gestalt se han unido al de contacto, nuestro entendimiento actual del tema ha cambiado también.

Describiré el contacto tal y como es presentado en el libro Terapia Gestalt, excitación y crecimiento de la personalidad humana, de Perls, Hefferline y Goodman, impartido en el Instituto Gestalt de Nueva York como el modelo básico y fundador de la terapia gestalt. Este modelo fundacional no es estático, sino que evoluciona a través del tiempo. Ha ido cambiando a lo largo de nuestra práctica clínica y de la sociedad en la que practicamos. Revisitaré la teoría de campo, la frontera-contacto, el self estructura y función, el ajuste creador, y mostraré otros conceptos básicos como la intencionalidad, la relación y el diálogo.

A lo largo de este taller mostraré también cómo la terapia gestalt tiene mucho en común con la fenomenología, el existencialismo, el pragmatismo americano y otras psicoterapias contemporáneas. Mostraré cómo compartimos raíces comunes. El taller incluirá exposiciones teóricas, proceso de grupo, ejercicios experienciales y demostraciones clínicas.

(www.nydowntowntherapist.com) es psicoterapeuta con práctica privada en la ciudad de Nueva York. Estudió con Laura Perls, Isadore From y Richard Kitzler. Dan enseña en el New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy y es profesor adjunto en institutos de terapia gestalt de todo el mundo. Dan ha presentado talleres y conferencias en muchos congresos internacionales de terapia gestalt. Ha sido presidente y miembro del New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy y ex presidente de la Asociación para el Avance de la Terapia Gestalt. Ha sido editor jefe de la revista Studies in Gestalt Therapy: Dialogical Bridges, es director asociado de Gestalt Review y editor de Quaderni di Gestalt y miembro del comité científico de la serie de libros sobre terapia gestalt publicados por FrancoAngeli.
